The snow is still deep in many parts of the Wasatch higher than 7,500 ft elevation. The lower trails or south facing trails are runnable mostly. Many trails are muddy and lots of downed trees in the way (which I like the steeplechase feel). The Alpine Loop Road opens up this weekend (18th) - so they say. The Loop road has some asphalt problems I assume they're going to fix. Get out and enjoy the peaceful backcountry before the motorists invade on the 18th. Start at Mutual Dell (Bear Hollow Trail), Pine Hollow, Granite Flats (Box Elder Trail) and head on up till you hit snow. You can definitely run the Silver Lake road or on up past Tibble Reservoir on the road (both still closed to motor vehicles).
I haven't hit the Mill Canyon or Tibble Fork trails yet. I assume they are wet and muddy still.
The golf 18, run 18 last week didn't happen. The snow looked thick still on the Midway side starting at about 7000ft.
Hopefully we'll see the trails clear up soon. The daylight is long and weather cool.
