North Mountain Run - definitely ran the long way home at 18 miles, 5000 ft vert, with overall drop in elevation. One of the roughest trails around, now compounded by overgrown conditions. The love/hate relationship was enhanced by the beauty of the views, perfect fall weather, colorful leaves, the damage to my shins, and periodic frustration with fading trails. There were lots of trees down, washouts, and sections of very faint trails, where route finding skills were tested. I did not see a soul until Dry Canyon. I started near the top of Suncrest in Draper, headed up to junction with Jacob's Ladder (turn right for unmarked North Mountain Trail), passed both Hamagogs, ran down the steep/bouldery Dry Creek trail, passed through Lambert Park Alpine, and road from there. There was plenty of water along the way - had to treat.
